Gladys Altizer Skaggs
Summary: SKAGGS Gladys Altizer. Mrs. Skaggs was born on the
family farm south of Indiahoma, Oklahoma Territory, on February
2, 1905 and passed away at her home in Oklahoma City on
Wednesday, November 25, 1998. She is predeceased by her parents,
early settlers in Comanche County, Wm. S. and Alice T. Altizer;
sisters, Martha Elrod, Mable Appleby, Bernadean Altizer; brother,
Russell Altizer; her husband of 52 years, George Edward Skagqs;
infant son, George, Jr.; son, Billy Paul. Survivors include
sisters, Lucile Lindsay and Wylma Blades both of Oklahoma City;
daughter, Betty L. Wooden, Dallas, TX; daughter-in-law, Bobby
Skaggs, Hydro, OK; granddaughter, Princess (husband, Danny)
Duerr, and great-grandson, Billy Bob Duerr of Archer City, TX,
plus a number of nieces and nephews and friends. Mrs. Skaggs was
a member of First United Methodist Church, Oklahoma City, for 55
years; also Harmony Chapter of Eastern Star for 61 years.
Services conducted by Mr. Elza Boldman will be held in the Chapel
of Capitol Hill Funeral Home, 2801 S. Robinson, at 10:00 AM on
Saturday, November 28, 1998, with burial to follow in IOOF
Cemetery, 1913 N. Porter, Norman, OK. In lieu of flowers,
memorials may be directed to Hospice of Oklahoma County, 4334 NW
Expressway, Ste. 106, Okla. City, OK 73116 or your charity of
choice. Our special thanks to everyone at Hospice of Oklahoma
County, especially to Dolores, Janis, Sue, Tony, and Trina for
the loving care they gave to the entire family during this
difficult time.
